A typical day at The Dog Cottage

Morning cuddles: While on holiday at The Dog Cottage your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel will awake from their slumber for morning cuddles and positive affirmations. This occurs on the King sized bed that they have slept on overnight.

Morning walk: A daily morning nature exploratory walk follows. Most days we venture to the private dog park where your furry angel is free to roam lead-free in the fully-fenced space. We walk home through the forest where your pooch will enjoy a relaxing break to take in the picturesque water views and bird action. From here we head back to their holiday house where a delectable breakfast is served. This consists of human-grade cuisine curated by 5 Hounds by Dr Will. After breakfast most of our furry guests are exhausted so they make their way to the faux fur covered sofa. This is where they’ll receive a gentle groom. Their coat is brushed, knots are removed and lots of massages are given. A tick check takes place, as does an eye and ear clean. All while they listen to soft, calming music for dogs. Needless to say they very quickly drift off to sleep.

Afternoon: The afternoon fun commences with enriching brain games. This is followed by a treat hunt in our purpose-built dog sensory garden. Our sensory garden is where your Cavalier can use their natural hunting instincts and sniff out treats hidden amongst dog-friendly herbs like mint, rosemary and basil. We also play enriching games that stimulate your dog’s brain during this time.

Evening: The day starts to wind down with each Cavalier served an exquisite dinner consisting of another delicious recipe from Dr Will. This is topped with crushed seaweed to help clean their teeth. The dogs enjoy an ‘after dinner mint’ AKA an Oravet Dental Chew to also assist in teeth cleaning. Turn down service takes place and the shutters and blinds are drawn, the fireplace is ignited, soft ambient lighting is switched on and cosy blankets are strategically placed on the sofa. The dogs take their rightful sofa positions (and the humans take what is left). Cuddles and snuggles commence, until it’s time to head outside to the toilet, then the primary bedroom to retire on the king bed for the evening.

Photos & Videos: You will receive photos and videos of your dog’s day so you can rest assured that they are having a pawsome holiday.

Barktimonials

“The Dog Cottage is amazing! Our ruby boy Raffie loves it there! Megan, Charlie Frank and Lily Grace are incredible hosts! Raff is almost 12 but is full of life and lives large. Megan has plenty of pawsome activities planned to satisfy any fur babies. Raff’s new favourite hobby is the sensory garden. Brilliant! We could enjoy our time away knowing Raff was safe, secure and happy with loads of activities, treats and cuddles.”

- Raffie’s Dad, Nigel Sharp

“I can thoroughly recommend The Dog Cottage to take care of your beloved fur baby. Matilda Rose was treated like royalty, the place is spotlessly clean, the sensory garden is amazing, along with the daily walks (or pram rides) to the park. It was such a relief knowing Matilda was being cared for in such loving, capable hands. Thank you!”

- Matilda Rose’s Mum, Tracee Haks

We treat our furry guests like we do our dogs - as though they are royalty, because let’s be honest, Cavaliers think that they are just that.
